From As You Are Boudoir and Purple Dress Events: A close photographer friend of mine were sitting and chatting one day about how we felt kind of lost in this social media driven world. We both felt like we were striving to be something we weren't. Our Instagram feeds were filled with tons of light, white, and airy photos, and we found ourselves striving to be like that, even when we knew, deep down, that wasn't really us. We decided that day, we would take a stand for ourselves and allow ourselves and our own vision to finally come through.
We went forward that day and made a plan. We decided we were going to do a head shot session about being YOU! We each chose three things that explained us and let that show through the photos. We invited another photographer friend to help capture everything and she joined in on the fun. Jodi is the lovely owner of As You Are Boudoir. She is an amazing boudoir photographer and knows how to photograph the body of a woman or a man like no other! She decided to pair a swanky little bralet with a strong shouldered blazer. She also showed off her funky side by pairing her outfit with statement jewelry pieces. Just look at that ring! Jodi perfectly paired her sassyness and love of boudoir and all things sexy to create some awesome. Jodi's session was photographed by Marci with Marcellaneous Photography.
For my photos, I really wanted to showcase my darker side. Although I am a fun, loving person, I very much enjoy planning a wedding that has a lot of mood and story behind the photo. My name is Liesl and I own Purple Dress Events. I am in love with color, hence the red lips and nails! On a typical day, you can find me wearing mostly black, most likely with a collard shirt or blazer on and drinking either a glass of champagne or a Dunkin' Donuts iced coffee with caramel, cream, sugar, and extra ice. Jodi was the photographer and the eye behind my beautifully moody photo. Jodi knew exactly how to play with the angles and shadows of my photos to bring out the mood in the photo with also showing my more fun and goofy side.
Marci owns Marecellaneous Photography. She also refers to herself as the Lash Queen. Marci is a Unique Consultant and can't stop gushing over their mascara. Marci wanted to match her photography business with her make-up business in these photos. She definitely had a more free spirited fun vibe. Marci chose a vivacious fucia color, that matches her photography and make-up business and topped off her photos with a sparkling tiara (which is actually Jodi's High School Homecoming crown!). All in all, we all three had a blast. These photos were not only a great time for us, they really pushed all three of us to become okay with letting ourselves be ourselves and to encourage us to not be afraid to take the road less traveled!
